Short version: UPF AI has no accounts, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party analytics SDKs. Your scan history stays on your device. When you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is sent — anonymously — to public food databases to fetch the product's ingredients.
We do not collect, store, or sell any personal data. The app has no login and no account, and we operate no servers of our own that store your data.
The following is stored only on your device (in iOS UserDefaults) and is never transmitted to us:
If you delete the app, this data is removed from your device. It is under your control at all times.
When you scan a product, the app sends the barcode number only to public food databases — Open Food Facts (product data © Open Food Facts contributors, ODbL) and the USDA FoodData Central — to fetch the product name and ingredient list. These requests contain no personal identifiers, no account information, and no location. Popular products are answered from a database bundled inside the app, with no network request at all.

The camera is used only to recognize barcodes on device. Camera frames never leave your device and are not stored.
We do not use any third-party SDKs for tracking, advertising, or analytics.
UPF AI PRO is an auto-renewable subscription (weekly or yearly; the yearly plan includes a 3-day free trial) purchased through the Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment information — Apple handles all billing. We only receive a confirmation from Apple that your subscription is active. You can cancel anytime in your App Store settings; if you cancel during the free trial, you will not be charged. If you enable notifications, the app can remind you locally before your trial ends — this reminder is scheduled on your device and involves no server.
Because the app collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or export on your behalf. Any data the app stores lives only on your device and can be removed by deleting the app. If you have any questions, contact us at kamil@kumu-studio.com and we will respond within 30 days.
The app is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no data, we do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
If we change this policy, we will update the Effective date above and post the new version at this URL.
