Tafsir AI — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how KUMU Studio LLC ("Tafsir AI", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the Tafsir AI mobile application (the "Service"), which provides AI-assisted dream interpretation drawing on classical Islamic sources. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

The Service is intended only for users aged 18 or older.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information — you can use the core dream-interpretation feature as a guest, without creating an account; in that case we create an anonymous identifier that is not linked to your name or email. If you choose Sign in with Apple (optional, to sync your dream journal across devices), we receive a user identifier and, depending on your choice, your name and an email address (which may be an Apple Private Relay address that hides your real email).
• Onboarding profile (optional) — answers you may provide during onboarding: gender, age range, relationship status, whether you have children, religious observance, life stage, sleep-quality indicators, mood, and a happiness rating. These are entirely optional, can be skipped, and are used only to personalize your interpretations.
• Dream content — the dream text (or voice you dictate, which is transcribed to text) and any clarifying details you submit. We treat dream content as private and sensitive.

Subscription status

• Purchase records — when you subscribe or buy through the Apple App Store, we store your subscription status and entitlement (e.g. whether you have an active subscription, the product identifier, and the expiration date) so the app knows what features to unlock for you. We do not store your payment method, card number, or any billing details — Apple handles all of that.

Attribution and analytics

Tafsir AI uses AppsFlyer, a mobile attribution and analytics provider, to understand how people discover the app and how our marketing performs. AppsFlyer may collect a device identifier — including the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), only if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — and app-event data such as installs, when an interpretation is viewed, and purchases. If you decline tracking, the IDFA is not used. Your dream content is never sent to AppsFlyer. We do not show third-party advertising inside the app, and we do not include third-party advertising SDKs.

We do not include third-party crash-reporting SDKs. Crash data that Apple collects through the operating system is sent to Apple and is only visible to us in anonymized, aggregated form via Xcode — we do not receive personal data this way.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Provide and personalize the Service and generate dream interpretations
• Maintain your account and private dream journal
• Process subscriptions through the Apple App Store
• Respond to your requests and provide support
• Keep the Service secure and prevent abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

How AI interpretation works

Before your first interpretation, we show an in-app notice explaining that your dream text will be shared with a third-party AI provider, and we ask for your consent. Your dream text is not sent anywhere until you agree.

To produce an interpretation, your dream text and any optional profile context are sent, through our servers, to our AI and infrastructure providers: Cohere generates an embedding to search our reference corpus, and Anthropic (the large-language-model provider) generates the interpretation. These providers process the text only to return a result and are contractually required to protect it. We do not use your dream content to serve advertising.

Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to operate the Service, with providers required to protect it:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and subscriptions, and on-device speech-to-text. Privacy Policy
• Supabase — authentication, database, and backend hosting for your account, profile, and dream journal. Privacy Policy
• Anthropic — the AI model that generates interpretations. Privacy Policy
• Cohere — generates text embeddings used to search the reference corpus. Privacy Policy
• AppsFlyer — mobile attribution and marketing analytics (device identifier and app events; no dream content). Privacy Policy

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, and in connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition). We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share dream content with advertisers. We do not use third-party advertising, and we use attribution / cross-app measurement (via AppsFlyer) only with your consent through the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the Service or as required by law.

• You can delete your dream journal at any time from within the app.
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). You can also email kamil@kumu-studio.com to request deletion.

Your choices

You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time by contacting kamil@kumu-studio.com. You can also manage permissions (such as microphone access) in your device settings.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact kamil@kumu-studio.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The updated version is indicated by the "Last Updated" date and takes effect when posted. Please review it periodically.
